Create the Curves You Want!

The shape of a woman’s body also shapes her perception of herself. The normal aging process, extreme weight loss or gain, pregnancy, nursing and cancer can take their toll on your breast causing you to feel unattractive and unsure of yourself.

Creating natural and sensual curves can be a game-changer for many women. Enhancing or reducing a woman’s beast shape and size to fit their individual body frame can ultimately boost their confidence in their appearance and other aspects of their life.

The Breast Implant Solution

Breast augmentation is the most frequently performed surgical procedure in the U.S. today. The goal of the surgery is to enhance your shape while creating a natural, proportionate appearance. Breast enlargement can enhance your body contour, correct a reduction in breast size after pregnancy, or balance a difference in breast size and shape.

During a consultation, Dr. Odinet will assess your breast augmentation goals to devise a customized plan to achieve the appearance you desire. Together, you and Dr. Odinet will decide the type of implant to be used during your surgery, where the implant will be placed, and the locations of your incisions. Moreover, you may discuss whether a breast augmentation alone will meet your goals or if anadditional procedure procedure performed in conjunction withthe augmentation such as a breast lift or areola reduction will be required to enhance a natural looking outcome.

Dr. Odinet uses either silicone or saline implants for breast augmentation. Many factors can affect the outcome of your breast augmentation procedure. It is important to select an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgerons, like Dr. Odinet, who will able to provide a customized treatment plan that best suits you.

Is Breast Augmentation the Right Choice for You?

Most women decide to move forward with breast augmentation to restore their pre-pregnancy shape, improve their body proportions and boost their self-esteem. It is important for women undergoing this procedure to be in good physical and mental health and have realistic expectations for their outcome.

Dr. Odinet will spend plenty of time at your consultation discussing these factors and performing an examination to ensure surgery is a safe option for you. You will also have the opportunity to share your concerns and post-operative goals. Dr. Odinet will take measurements and photos so he can help you select the implants that will produce the most beautiful natural results. He will ensure you are provided with the information you need to make the right choices for your breast augmentation.

Dr. Odinet believes that educating a patient about surgical options, implants, pre-surgery regimine and post-operative expectations is critical to ensuring your best outcome. He will ensure you are provided with the information you need to make the right choices for your breast augmentation.

Options in Breast Augmentation

When deciding on breast augmentation surgery one of the most significant decisions will be which type of implant to select.

The Implant Choice

While saline implants have been used for many years, silicone implants received approval from the FDA in 2006 after numerous in-depth tests and studies confirmed their safety. Today, silicone implants are the most requested implants, although saline continues to be a top choice for some patients as well.

Saline Breast Implants

This implant contains a saltwater solution very similar to saline found naturally in the body. Because it is filled with liquid, it feels firmer than gel implants and can be more firm when fully filled. Saline implants have a higher risk of wrinkling and rippling in patients with thin tissue coverage.

One of the principal advantages of using saline implants is that they require a much smaller incision since they can be placed in the breast tissue and then filled to the appropriate size. Saline implants come in low, moderate and high profiles that allow them to be tailored to the look you want to achieve. Profile refers to the height of the implant which affects how far the breast will project from the chest wall.

Silicone Breast Implants

This implant has a classic, round shape and is designed to create a soft, round look and a fuller contour in the upper breast area. It is considered to be softer to the touch than saline implants and is made of a cohesive silicone gel which requires a slightly larger incision than saline implants. This type of implant can come in moderate, moderate-plus, high and extra-high profiles.

Silicone-Filled Highly Cohesive Breast Implant “Gummy Bear”

The newest of the three options, this implant is made of a highly cohesive gel and has a soft, natural feel. It is shaped more like a woman’s breast than the round saline and silicon implant options. These implants are narrower at the top producing a natural slope to the breast. Additionally, the “ gummy bear” implant is designed to stay in place and hold its shape over time. However, it does require a slightly larger incision than the round silicon gel implant.

Implant Placement

In most cases, Dr. Odinet places the implants underneath the pectoral muscle, known as submuscular placement. This option tends to produce the most natural appearance. However in some circumstances, women with sufficient breast tissue may also consider placing the implants on top of the chest muscle. Dr. Odinet will discuss these options with you at your consultation and make recommendations about the best technique to achieve your goals.

Your Breast Augmentation Experience

Depending on your situation, Dr. Odinet will perform your surgery at our AAAASF-accredited facility on an outpatient basis, or at Park Place Hospital, which provides overnight recovery suites. He uses a rib block during your operation, which numbs the chest area to increase your post-operative comfort and reduce the amount of pain medication you need during recovery. You will be comfortable and asleep throughout the entire procedure.

Once asleep, Dr. Odinet makes an incision in the breast to allow for the placement of the implant. The incision may be located underneath the crease of the breast (inframammary incision) or around the areola (periareolar incision). He will create a pocket to place the implant and then carefully suture the incision closed to minimize visible scarring after your procedure. The entire process usually takes about one hour.

After Your Breast Augmentation

Many women are pleasantly surprised by how quick the recovery process is after breast augmentation. Most women are driving within two days and many are back to work in three to four days. However, you need to wait for your more strenuous workouts for about four weeks to allow the breasts ample time to heal fully. You can resume light exercise soon after surgery to aid the healing process.

Many factors can affect the outcome of your breast augmentation procedure. It is critical to select an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon that can provide a customized treatment plan that suits you best.
