Options in a Mommy Makeover
Dr. Odinet will combine procedures to create a customized mommy makeover solution for you. These procedures are often performed together to produce full results with just one time under anesthesia and a single recovery process. However, he will also perform separate surgeries for patients if he believes it is a better choice for you. Your individualized surgical plan might include the following procedures:
- Breast Augmentation (restores fullness and volume to the breasts)
- Breast Lift (lifts sagging skin to improve the shape and position of the breasts)
- Breast Reduction (decreases disproportionately large breasts to balance the body contour)
- Liposuction (removes stubborn, isolated areas of fat from the midsection and other areas)
- Tummy Tuck (tightens abdominal muscles, removes loose skin from the midsection)
While these are the most common options, it is not uncommon to include: an arm lift, thigh lift, or Brazilian butt lift. Nonsurgical treatments may also be recommended – such as CoolSculpting – to add put the finishing touch to your new body contour. Dr. Odinet will present all your options at your consultation so the two of you can work together to craft the perfect treatment plan for your goals.
Your Mommy Makeover Experience
Dr. Odinet might perform your mommy makeover as outpatient surgery in our AAAASF-accredited facility. If he feels you require a night of monitoring before you go home to recover, he can also perform your operation at Park Place Hospital, which features overnight recovery suites for patients. Most mommy makeovers are done under general anesthesia so you will be comfortably asleep throughout your operation.
The specific process may vary, depending on the procedures that are included in your surgery. Dr. Odinet will properly place incisions in locations where they will be hidden within natural folds of skin whenever possible. He will also use meticulous suturing techniques to minimize visible scarring after your surgery. Mommy makeovers usually take three to four hours to complete, depending on the exact combination of procedures that will be done.
After Your Mommy Makeover
Recovery after your mommy makeover can vary depending on the specifics of your procedure. Most women will need about two to three weeks to rest and recuperate before they are ready to resume their regular schedule again. During this time, you will probably need help around the house, and with your children: as you do not want to overdo your activity in the early stage of your healing.
Heavy lifting and vigorous exercise are typically prohibited for up to six weeks, although you will be encouraged to engage in some light workouts to promote healing. Healthy habits will also go a long way toward ensuring the results of your surgery are long-lasting as well. In most cases, you should enjoy your refreshed body contour for many years to come, as long as you do not experience another pregnancy or other significant weight fluctuations.
You don’t have to accept the changes that altered your body in your quest to become a mother. There are plenty of options to rejuvenate your body and restore your confidence in your appearance.
