Breast Augmentation Procedure
Depending on your situation, Dr. Odinet will perform your surgery at our AAAASF-accredited facility on an outpatient basis, or at Park Place Hospital, which provides overnight recovery suites. He uses a rib block during your operation, which numbs the chest area to increase your post-operative comfort and reduce the amount of pain medication you need during recovery. You will be comfortable and asleep throughout the entire procedure.
Once asleep, Dr. Odinet makes an incision in the breast to allow for the placement of the implant. The incision may be located underneath the crease of the breast (inframammary incision). He will create a pocket to place the implant and then carefully suture the incision closed to minimize visible scarring after your procedure. The entire process usually takes about one hour.
Dr. Ken Odinet is an ASPS board certified plastic surgeon. Dr. Odinet has always been up to date on all current trends and techniques throughout his career. He is currently the only plastic surgeon in Acadiana board certified in ear, nose, and throat (head and neck) surgery, and plastic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Odinet firmly believes patient education is key to obtaining the results which individuals expect from a cosmetic procedure.

Recovery
Dr. Odinet may add a rib block to increase your post-operative comfort level and reduce the amount of pain medication you may need during the first few days of your recovery. Recovery depends on the surgery, but typically takes one to two weeks. Light exercise is encouraged but avoid vigorous exercise for up to 6 weeks.
Rewarding
Results
Patients will notice relief from neck, back, and shoulder pain very soon following the surgery. However, the cosmetic results will take a bit longer to become fully apparent, as swelling is common and will need to subside before you see the final outcome. Your new contour should last indefinitely as long as you maintain a healthy weight and lifestyle.
