Give Yourself Grace
Chances are you lead a busy life. Whether you work a demanding job, have children to take care of, or other responsibilities, now is the time to unwind and relax. Take a break from your everyday routine and focus on yourself. Remember, you deserve to make yourself a priority.
The post-surgery instructions you receive are important. As long as you follow them to a tee, you can heal properly. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact your surgeon's office for clarity. They are there to support you before, during, and after surgery.
This is the season of giving! As you recover from your procedure, ask your spouse, family member, or friend to help you out. Whether they take over household responsibilities, run errands, drive you to your follow-up appointments, cook meals, or anything else, you'll feel less stressed as you heal.
While it may be tempting to sit outside and soak up the sunshine as you recover, doing so can do more harm than good. Too much sun exposure can cause scarring and other side effects that may prolong the healing process. If possible, stay inside and out of the UV rays until you've fully recovered.
If you're normally a go-getter, it may be difficult to take a break from the daily grind so you can relax and recover. But it's important to take it easy and follow your surgeon's recovery directions. This way you'll be able to return to your routine in a safe, timely manner. This isn't the time to push yourself.
