Your Skincare Shouldn’t End at Your Chin

We are accustomed to investing in the skin on our face, but some of the earliest and most noticeable signs of aging often appear just below it. The neck, décolleté, arms and hands receive years of sun exposure and can gradually develop brown spots, uneven tone, visible superficial vessels, fine lines and that thin, crepey texture that can make the skin appear older and more fragile.

The good news is that many of the treatments and skincare principles we use for facial rejuvenation can also be applied beyond the face.

MOXI®: Improving Crepey Texture and Skin Quality

MOXI®, is a gentle, non-ablative fractional laser that creates microscopic treatment zones within the skin, triggering the body’s natural renewal process and encourage collagen remodeling.

For patients bothered by mild crepiness, rough texture, early fine lines or sun damaged skin, MOXI can be particularly helpful. Skin renewal promotes a firmer, smoother, healthier, and more resilient appearance. And MOXI isn’t just for the face. Depending on the condition of the skin, treatments can extend to the neck, chest, arms, and hands – areas often overlooked until signs of aging become more noticeable.

Rather than thinking of MOXI simply as a “laser for brown spots,” think of it as a treatment for improving overall skin quality.

BBL®: Addressing the Color of Aging Skin

While MOXI focuses heavily on renewal and texture, BBL® (BroadBand Light) gives us another tool for addressing the visible effects of accumulated sun exposure.

BBL can target unwanted brown pigmentation and certain visible superficial vessels and redness. This makes MOXI and BBL complementary treatments for
appropriate patients: BBL addresses unwanted color while MOXI addresses texture, renewal and collagen.

For the décolleté, arms and hands—where brown spots, redness, small visible vessels and textural changes can occur together—combining modalities can provide a more comprehensive approach to rejuvenation.

What About Thin Skin and Easy Bruising?

As skin ages, it naturally becomes thinner and more fragile, particularly in areas with years of cumulative sun exposure. This can contribute to a crepey appearance and make bruising more noticeable.

It is important to distinguish these age-related changes from medical conditions that may cause excessive bruising. MOXI® is not a treatment for bleeding or bruising disorders. However, fractional laser treatments can stimulate collagen remodeling and improve the quality of thin, photo damaged skin. Over time, treatment may help the skin appear firmer, smoother, healthier and more resilient.

For appropriately selected patients, the goal is not simply to treat what is visible on the surface, but to support healthier skin renewal and improve overall skin quality.

Maintain the Results at Home

Professional treatments are only one component of a comprehensive approach to skin health. A carefully selected, medical-grade skincare regimen can help support the skin’s natural renewal process, protect against environmental damage, and maintain the improvements achieved with in-office treatments.

ALASTIN® Regenerating Skin Nectar with TriHex+™ is designed to support the skin before and after procedures and complement the collagen and elastin remodeling process.

For ongoing daily care, ALASTIN® Restorative Skin Complex with TriHex+™ can help address visible signs of aging and support healthier-looking skin.

For the neck, décolleté, and body specifically, ALASTIN® TransFORM Body Treatment with TriHex Technology® supports the skin’s natural renewal process by helping clear damaged collagen and elastin while supporting the production of new, healthy collagen and elastin. With daily use, it can improve the appearance of skin texture, firmness and crepiness on areas throughout the body while providing lasting hydration for smoother, more youthful-looking skin.

ZO® Daily Power Defense supports the skin’s protective barrier and helps defend against environmental stressors and premature signs of aging.

ZO® Growth Factor Serum is another excellent consideration for aging or fragile-looking skin; it is specifically formulated to improve the appearance of skin density, elasticity, firmness and smoothness.

ZO® Firming Serum may also be incorporated into an individualized regimen.

Think Beyond the Face

A beautiful result isn’t necessarily about doing more. It’s about looking at the skin as a whole and choosing the right treatment for each concern.

BBL can address unwanted pigment and certain visible vessels. MOXI can improve texture and encourage collagen remodeling.

Medical-grade ALASTIN® and ZO® skincare can support and maintain the skin between treatments.

Together, these treatments allow us to develop a more comprehensive approach to aging skin—from the face and neck to the décolleté, arms and hands.
Because your skincare really shouldn’t end at your chin.
